I was forced last night to upgrade to Windows 10 (which in and of itself is extremely annoying). I have access to my account, files, everything, because I have a fingerprint scanner. I have been using my fingerprint scanner to login for so long I have forgotten the password to my admin account. I want to change the password to something I remember, however I don't remember the old password so it won't let me. I tried syncing my Windows 10 to my online Microsoft account, but it also requires me to enter the admin password. If my Microsoft account is NOT connected to my Windows 10 account and I have forgotten my admin password, how can I change the admin password?
Again, I have access to my desktop, files, everything thanks to a fingerprint scanner. My admin password can't be retrieved through my Microsoft account because they aren't connected. How do I create a new admin password when I can't remember the old one? Hi Casey, As you are unable to sign in to your computer and are looking for an alternative way to get access. I suggest you to refer the below article for steps you can take to reset the forgotten password. Further if you are unable to get access that on your system, I suggest you to go to Windows Recovery Environment and use the Command Prompt there, which is elevated.
Follow the below steps:- 1) Press Shift and Restart from the power icon (together) 2) Select Troubleshoot. 3) Go to Advanced Options. 4) Select Command Prompt. 5) Type ' net user Administrator /active:yes' 6) Hit Enter.
A user account with the name Admin will be created. Log in with that account and you will be able to access Admin privileges.
You can also create more Administrator accounts with that account. Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you. Thank You Anup karkal. I specifically stated TWICE that I can login and can access all files, my desktop, etc., using a fingerprint scanner.
Log on to Windows by using an Administrator account that has a password. It automatically creates an account 'Administrator' and sets its password to blank.
Your solution is for a problem I do not have. Again, I CAN login and access everything on my computer. I simply want to know how to change my password (to one that I remember) when I don't remember the old one. I can login and can access everything on my computer using my fingerprint scanner.
My Windows 10 is NOT connected to my online Microsoft account. I want to change my password because I don't remember the current password. However, in order to change the password to a new one, it requires the old password. Is there a way to reset the password without knowing the current password?
Please read this again carefully, because the first response seemed to ignore what I am asking and solves a problem I don't have.
